| Open Theatre/DC is a laboratory company, which in the past has developed one project per year: original works, adaptations of classics, premieres of challening international plays: employing unique approaches to physical theatre, music theatre, and dance theatre. It explores the full register of possibilities on the stage: from artistic anarchy to works of high stylization. There is no one form, no one way to act, no one method of creating a work for the stage, accorting to the OT approach. In 2003-2004 Open Theatre will be putting on its first "season," partly in residence at the newly revived Takoma Theatre. Open Theatre has existed in various incarnations, indicated by the names of other collaborating theatre companies coming after its final slash (/) mark: for example OPEN THEATRE/C.I.T.E. (The Center for International Theatre Exchange at the Department of Performing Arts, American University), or OPEN THEATRE/TUTA (The Utopian Theatre Asylum, our long-time collaborators now in Chicago.) This pays homage to our collaborators, who can be found in the ensuing pages and links. |
